BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT alexis

Photographer, chaos coordinator, and professional chapstick hoarder.

I’m the person behind the camera. A storyteller at heart, often holding a snack, always paying attention. I’m drawn to the moments in between the big ones. The glances that say everything, the wind in your hair, the hugs that linger when no one else is watching. That’s the good stuff. That’s what I love to photograph.

I’m rooted in the Lowcountry, where the sea breeze feels like home and front porches invite you to slow down. Most days look a little lived in around here. Worn-in jeans, a favorite tee, coffee in hand, and a bit of chaos close by. I’m a Jersey girl at heart with a soft spot for Waffle House, country music, and Kane Brown on repeat more often than I’d like to admit.

I’m also a mom to three wildly wonderful humans and two fur babies, which means life is full and the vacuum is always out. I gravitate toward neutrals and mixed metals, though pink will always have my heart. I love a good gym fit for the comfort alone, chapstick is never far, and there’s usually a song stuck in my head for days at a time.

And the serious things matter, too. I’m a proud Marine Corps veteran, a pasta enthusiast, loyal to canned Coke, a bulldog snuggler, textbook Libra, frequent visitor of the skincare aisle, and a self-proclaimed interior-decorating dabbler.

MY kids

They’re at the heart of why I do what I do. They keep me inspired, motivated, and remind me why I began this work in the first place. They’re also my most willing subjects when I need to practice and refine my craft. Sometimes that requires a little encouragement in the form of snacks or the promise of keeping things easy and natural, but it always works out in the end.

MY ENGLISH BULLDOG

Buster was my sweet English bulldog rescue and a constant source of comfort. He had a mind of his own and a way of making it clear where he wanted to be, usually right by my side. After long days, he’d greet me with a wagging tail and quietly settle in for warmth, even when he wasn’t supposed to. He was there through every season, offering loyalty and a love I’ll always carry with me.

my frenchie

Bodhi is our blue brindle Frenchie with a deep love for treats, chew bones, and making friends wherever he goes. He considers it his job to patrol the couch, usually stretched out on top of you or perched on the highest cushion. A single sprinkle of water sends him into full zoomie mode, and he keeps our days filled with energy, laughter, and a lot of love.

coke in a can

I have a well-documented love for canned Coke. I try to keep it in check, but a gas station stop for a regular-size one before a wedding day is almost a ritual.

who are you?

You find meaning in the little things. The quiet glances, hands held just a second longer, the way the light settles when no one is paying attention. You value heirlooms, hugs that linger, and moments that feel honest rather than perfect. You probably have a soft spot for dogs, bulldogs included, and a deep love for your people.
You’re drawn to what feels natural, timeless, and sentimental. You’re not interested in stiff poses or heavy-handed edits. You want photographs that feel real. The kind that carry emotion and memory. Images that reflect the moments in between, because those are often the ones that matter most.
